This Kentucky pistol is stocked in curly maple, stained to a golden brown. The brass furniture has a hand burnished appearance with engraved accents and nicely compliments the tone of the stock. The tapered octagon barrel is finished to a dark brown, while the small Siler flintlock has a temper blue finish. This pistol is unfired and has only a few strikes on the frizzen face. Signed on the top flat of the barrel R.W. Deitz.

The 10-1/2" tapered octagon .50 caliber cut rifled barrel is finished with a smooth brown finish. The barrel is 15/16" at the breech tapering to 3/4" at the muzzle. The breech has a internal powder chamber and is shaped with a flared thumbnail tang. The tang is hand engraved with a floral design. The bore is cut rifled with six lands and grooves with a fast twist approprate for a patched round ball from a pistol. The bore is mirror bright in unfired condition. The barrel is fitted with a small nickel silver blade barley corn front sight. The flat top rear sight is dovetailed into the breech of the barrel to provide maximum sight radius.

The small Siler flintlock has a Germanic appearance with faceted pan and pointed tail. The lock is finished to a temper blue with some areas a bronze to purple. We recommend a 5/8" by 3/4" knapped English gun flints for best performance in this lock. This lock only spark fair for a small Siler lock. A stainless steel vent liner is well centered and positioned at the top edge of the pan to provide best ignition.

The grip has a gentle curve to allow easy sighting. The brass grip cap is hand engraved with a decorative border and flower around the mounting screw. Viewed from above you can see the graceful taper on the barrel. The lock panels are framed with a panel of raised carving that also frames the thumbnail tang as decorative scrolls. All the carving has well cleaned backgrounds and has been shaded to give it bold appearance with a shallow depth. The triggerguard is mounted with a screw and a dowel pin. All the moldings on the triggerguard are neatly hand polished with crisp flats. The barrel is mounted with steel wedge keys without the use of escutcheon plates. The keys are very neatly fitted. The ramrod has a turned antler tip, it has no provisions for threaded accessories. We would suggest using a dedicated loading and cleaning rod to save wear on this well fitted and finished ramrod. Two domed head lock bolts secure the small Siler flint lock. The lock bolts are polished and engraved. The burnished brass sideplate has a English influence with gently sweeping arcs and a pointed tail. The sideplate is hand engraved with decorative scrolls.
