Stocked in black walnut, this .45 caliber Thompson Center Seneca percussion rifle has a 13/16" octagon 27" barrel, and is light enough to serve as a boy's rifle or lady's rifle. Offered as a used rifle the nicely figured walnut stock has a few scattered handling marks. The brass furniture has a mellow patina with some scattered dark speckling. The barrel is fitted with Thompson Center patridge sights which many shooters prefer to the later bead sights. Trigger reach is 13-1/4" to fit today's average size shooter. Weight is 6.1 pounds.
The .45 caliber barrel is fitted with a patridge style front sight, with the front painted white for visibility and factory small adjustable rear sight. The bore of barrel is bright and appears to be in excellent well maintained condition. The breech is fitted with a 12-28 threaded stainless steel nipple. .We recommend our #BALL-440 Hornady pure lead .440" round ball, #OX-15-40-D Ox Yoke .015" dry patch, #MINK OIL tallow lubricant, and 60-70 grains of #GOEX-FFFg black powder for best accuracy. Use a CCI #11 percussion cap on the nipple. If hunting bigger game, or in thick brush, try our .45 caliber Maxi-Balls. Recoil will increase, but will not be noticed during the hunt.
The buttstock displays some attractive figure and the brass furniture has darkened to a mellow patina from long storage. The buttplate has a modest curve to engage the shooter's shoulder. The original factory adjustable sights are installed on the barrel. The tang has been drilled and tapped from a previous tang sight that was fitted. A hex wrench driven filler screw is fitted. The wood at the end of the tang has a slight compression from the tang sight base. The brass toeplate is mounted with brass screws. The brass triggerguard has a well aged patina. The forend of the stock is fitted with a brass forend cap. This rifle is fitted with a ramrod with a flared brass tip and 10-32 threaded tip for cleaning accessories. A squared cheek piece is factory carved on this T/C Seneca .45 caliber rifle. The stock has a few scattered handling marks.
The color case hardened lock has the factory engraved percussion hammer with flat lock plate. This lock works smoothly, with a strong mainspring, and fly detent to allow the use of double set triggers. The percussion breech with snail is fitted to the barrel. A stainless steel nipple is fitted to the breech. Triggers are double lever double set triggers, factory designed to allow firing the rifle from either trigger, cocking the lock or setting the trigger in any sequence.
