This Kentucky pistol is stocked in curly maple that displays swirls of figure over the length of the stock. This pistol is trimmed in neatly fitted sterling silver Georgian style furniture. A few Colonial American makers produced pistols with Georgian style furniture, such as J.P. Beck from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The sterling silver furniture has a satin hand burnished tone and nicely compliments the tone of the maple stock. The octagon-to-round barrel and the small Siler flintlock are finished armory bright. The frizzen has only a few marks from spark testing.

The 7-1/2" octagon-round barrel has a 4" tapered octagon breech with a single wedding band to round. The .54 caliber bore is rifled for a patched round ball. The bore is bright and appears as-new. The barrel does not have any sights in holster pistol fashion, where the pistol was designed to be used at close range. The barrel is finished armoury bright. Also finished bright, the small Siler flintlock has a crisp action and a well hardened frizzen. When using our best 5/8" knapped gun flints, the lock will throw a shower of sparks into the pan. Blending into the bright finish a stainless steel vent liner is well centered and positioned at the top edge of the pan to provide best ignition.

The maple stock has a slender grip fitted with a grotesque mask buttcap. Viewed from above the breech end of the barrel is fitted with a flared tang with a thumbnail finial. The tang is surrounded by a panel of raised carving with a checkered crown design. The lock panels taper widest at the rear in early gun fashion and the stock is shaped with graceful slender proportions. The triggerguard is correctly mounted by one steel screw and dowel pins. The rear extension has been neatly inlet into the pistol grip. All of the sterling silver furniture is finished to a hand burnished satin appearance. The buttcap is shaped with a grotesque mask mounted with a iron screw. The slender 5/16" diameter ramrod has a tapered and flared end, it does not have any provisions for threaded accessories. We recommend using a pistol loading rod, our #PL-7-54, and leaving this well fitted ramrod with the pistol. Two lock bolts secure the small Siler flintlock to the pistol. The sterling silver sideplate is burnished bright with a chiseled design with flowing scrolls. The elaborate openwork design is patterned from a antique example, which was designed to show the skill of the inletting by the English gunmakers of the period.
