Flat brass buttplate, for the North West Trade Musket, copied exactly from an original gun marked Barnett - 1816.
About 2" width, this is the early style North West Trade Gun buttplate. File the sides to match the narrower 1-1/2" wide buttplates of later period North West trade guns. Mount with square nails for early reproductions, and screws for later Trade Guns. A number of the examples we have examined used four screws on the butt, with a single screw in the comb. The slots of these screws are typically aligned vertically.
