Shown in side view, and top view, our North West Trade Gun ramrod pipes are round, for 3/8" ramrod, iron..
Notice the impressed rings, forged into the thin iron pipes. These corrugations or embossed rings give the thin iron pipes extra strength, so they cannot be crushed in the field.
The entry pipe (where rod enters the wood) is most often omitted on the North West Trade Gun. A few Trade Guns, and most Chief's grade Trade Guns were fitted with a third identical rod pipe, with no skirt, as an entry pipe. Most Trade Guns have only two forward pipes.
Our forward pipe, with lug for pin, is 1-1/4" overall length. Made for a fullstock gun (with wood extending to muzzle), most Trade Guns use two forward pipes. A few extra long gun use three forward pipes. Use one #PIN-3/32 steel dowel pin, to retain each brass pipe.
