Suitable for right or left hand use, this sideplate is correct for a longrifle from Bedford, Fulton, Huntingdon, or Somerset County, and the very similar longrifles by Armstrong, Maryland.
This precision cut steel sideplate is made to be inlet flush into the side lock panel. The front two holes are spaced to exactly fit the L&R Bedford percussion or flint lock. The front lock bolt will be well above the ramrod hole. The rear hole accepts a short wood screw. The front hole is often fitted with a dummy wood screw, also. Overall length 5-7/16", height 15/16", thickness 0.080".
Made in the U.S.A., by Track, of precision cut sheet steel. Most original rifles were trimmed in brass.
If you plan to build a Bedford or Maryland longrifle, we strongly recommend Gunsmiths of Bedford, Fulton, Huntingdon & Somerset Counties by James B. Whisker & Larry Yantz.
