Typically surface mounted, or very slightly inlet into the wrist of a North West Trade Gun, this iron triggerguard has a large trigger bow, for a gloved finger. Found on original trade guns, sold across Canada and the Northern United States by the early Fur Trade Companies, this iron triggerguard is correctly used with a brass buttplate.

Copied directly from an antique Trade Gun marked BARNETT - 1816, this triggerguard with pointed spade finials was often used on earlier and later Trade Guns.

The front screw is generally an inverted tang bolt, actually a lock bolt tipped backwards and inserted from the triggerguard's front finial, threaded into the tang of the breech plug. This unique assembly feature was often used on Trade Guns. See our #PLAN-NW for correct assembly details. Use two unplated steel #SCREW-6-5/8" mounting screws at rear.

Overall length is 10-1/2", inside trigger bow is 2-1/8" long, and 1-9/16" deep.
