Green Mountain Muzzle Loading Rifle Barrels are machined from high quality American made bar stock, A.I.S.I. 1137 modified, stress relieved, annealed, certified rifle barrel quality steel. All barrels are drilled from solid stock, reamed to a high degree of smoothness, then optically checked for straightness. Very close tolerances are maintained. Diameters vary less than .0002" within any bore.
Cut Rifling Specifications:
- Each barrel has eight lands and grooves.
- Grooves cut .010 to .012" deep, depending on caliber.
- Twist is 1 turn in 48 inches for .32 caliber.
- Twist is 1 turn in 48 inches for .36 caliber.
- Twist is 1 turn in 56 inches for .40 caliber.
- Twist is 1 turn in 60 inches for .45 caliber.
- Twist is 1 turn in 70 inches for .50 caliber.
- Twist is 1 turn in 70 inches for .54 caliber.
- Twist is 1 turn in 70 inches for .58 caliber.
Green Mountain 38" Isaac Haines swamped barrels in three different profiles. The barrels are threaded to accept breech plug.
- Our 'A' profile small caliber Isaac Haines barrel, has a .950" breech, .660" waist, and .845" muzzle.
- Our 'B' profile mid caliber Isaac Haines barrel, has a 1.000" breech, .710" waist, and .895" muzzle.
- Our 'C' profile large caliber Isaac Haines barrel, has a 1.062" breech, .772" waist, and .957" muzzle.
Green Mountain 42" Golden Age swamped barrels in three different profiles. Our customers sometimes refer to this as the John Bivins style, since he often used this barrel profile on his extraordinary rifles. We offer Green Mountain 42" swamped barrels in three different profiles. The barrels are threaded to accept a breech plug, no plug is included.
- Our ‘A' profile small caliber Golden Age barrel has a .950" breech, .700" waist, .762" muzzle.
- Our ‘B' profile mid caliber Golden Age barrel has a 1.000" breech, .750" waist, .812" muzzle.
- Our ‘C' profile large caliber Golden Age barrel has a 1.062" breech, .812" waist, .875" muzzle.
Green Mountain 44" American Heritage swamped barrel. in three different profiles. Our 44" swamped rifle barrel copies the design used in the famous bicentennial longrifles made by John Bivins and others, for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. We offer 44" swamped barrels in three different profiles. Barrels are threaded to accept a breech plug. No plug is included.
- Our ‘A' profile small caliber barrel has a .950" breech, .668" waist, .815" muzzle.
- Our ‘B' profile medium caliber barrel has a 1.000" breech, .718" waist, .865" muzzle.
- Our ‘C' profile large caliber barrel has a 1.062" breech, .780" waist, .927" muzzle.
